Uniting rivals
EURO 2008 was hosted jointly by Austria and Switzerland and we therefore used the Alps as a uniting feature. This was represented by an energising red sweep cradling a stylised football.
The vast array of print and television applications required the development of a simple but flexible inventory of graphic icons. These could be used individually or combined to create mountainous backgrounds and other patterns.
The designs were used extensively by the global media and throughout the host countries; everywhere from airports to bus shelters, concession stands to broadcast titles and match graphics.
